Is the truck running fine?

I have not experienced it personally but pretty sure it was mentioned here that the ECM could be the trouble.

when the light is off it runs fine and shifts fine as soon as the light is on it starts to shift hard and jerks when shifting.

Where did you purchase your replacement TPS's and what brand were they?

A lot of electrical parts on these trucks only work well with genuine Ford Motorcraft parts. If it comes to replacing the TPS again I would certainly use a genuine Ford part if it is still available.

Is Code 122 being displayed in the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests or is it a stored code in Continuous Memory?

it is displayed at KOEO and the light comes and goes when driving like it was on part of the drive to work today and it shifted very rough but when i went running an errand for the boss it went off and smoothed out.

I hope that answered the question

also are the TPS wires directly to the ECM with no other components in between I was considering running new wires to it completely and bypass the old wires from the ecm so i could rule out harness issues.

So nothing is flagged in Stored Codes? Seems odd since the CEL turned on.

The TPS wires go through the TPS connector C1024 then onto C101, located on the driver side inner fender, before it hits the PCM connector C185. I have found C1024 can grow green corrosion so make sure that one is clean. C101 is not known for that kind of behavior, but do not discount it. C101 is a big connector...

What year and model truck are you working on?

the only code it ever pulls is 122 when light is on and 11 when it is off

i assume that C1024 is the connector at the TPS anf i actually replaced it with a brand new connector/pigtail and cut the old wires back a few inches to make sure they were good clean copper

Perhaps that was a typo on your other post "the only code it ever pulls is 122 when light is on and 11 when it is off". You will never get a mix of two and three digit codes. It is two OR three. A 1994 model truck with a 5L engine will typically display three digit codes. This applies to the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests, stored codes in Continuous Memory (CM) as well as the Key On Engine Running (KOER) tests.

If the Check Engine Light (CEL) is triggered there is usually a code stored in Continuous Memory. Just to clarify there are two parts to running the engine off tests and code display. The first are the KOEO tests that are run, then if anything is flagged as bad the computer will flash out the three digit codes. This is done twice. If the KOEO tests pass then the System Pass Code 111 will be flashed out, twice. When that is completed the computer will send out a separator flash to indicate the codes from Stored Memory will be displayed next. A few seconds after the separator flash any codes in Continuous Memory will be sent out. If there are no stored codes the computer will display the System Pass Code 111, twice.

Might be a good time to verify the TPS output with a meter. Code 122 indicates the signal output is too low (KOEO). Code 122 CM means the output has been intermittently low during a drive cycle.

Yes, connector C1024 is the connector the TPS plugs into.

sorry yes that was code 111, not 11 and that is how i have been running the codes it is always 122 when the light is on I have taken a voltmeter and checked all wires and tps and I will admit it seems a little sticky when testing the sensor bur it works. could it just be a bad sensor itself?

Yes it could be a bad sensor. The "sticky" may be when the wiper passes over a bad spot in the resistor windings.Aftermarket TPS sensors have very poor quality control these days. Even the Motorcraft branded versions seem to be coming from offshore. Set your DVM to non-auto range then test the TPS with the key on/engine off. The output should increase from base (0.67 to 1.00 VDC) to ~4.5 VDC in a linear fashion. If you see any hunting/variance while slowly opening throttle the TPS is very suspect.
