Hi all,
Just bought a 2004 F250 4X4. In the recommended maintenance schedule it states to replace the drivers side axle cv shaft.
Any particular reason for that, and if so, why not passenger side?
Since your truck has a solid front axle, there are no CV shafts. You have front and rear axle shafts (with replaceable ujoints on the front shafts) and front and rear driveshafts with replaceable ujoints, so there should be no need to replace shafts unless you have damage to the shaft itself. I am curious, where did you get this maintenance schedule from?
I would recommend that you go here on the Ford website and download the appropriate Owner's Manual and use the maintenance schedule from that to avoid weird recommendations from third party sites.
