I am newer to having my f250 and live in wisconsin. I just ordered some Method wheels that have a centercap that inserts from the back of the wheel. I know they use a vacuum system on the 4 wheel system, but am i in troubl if I cover the lockers? I obviously don't want to have them in locked position all of the time.
The default position of the front hub lock outs are "Auto". Technically, you could leave it in this and just not worry about it. I haven't experienced any issues with the auto lock outs on these trucks, unlike the old 90s trucks with the problematic auto system. I'd rather not cover the lock out though, as if you need to over ride the auto system, you'll be SOL.

I leave mine in auto and covered them with an extra set of rear King Ranch hubcaps. Yeah, the older hubs were a bit troublesome in that they would stick if you didn't turn them manually on a regular basis. Had that problem on both my '01 and '05 Excursions. I do activate the 4WD about once a week on a straight stretch of road in order to spin up the gear oil inside and get the seals wet. But since you'd have to remove a wheel to access the hubs, I'd leave them open. Cutting the aftermarket hubcaps was a good suggestion.

Thanks
auto hubs were basically worthless for me as I was already stuck. I would not cover them.
