OK, I have a test for all you techs out there. Have a unique situation and hope one of you can help me. Found a couple of chaffed wires on my engine harness so decided to remove the main engine harness and go through it. Basically just visually inspected the wires, replaced a couple pigtails (turbo and ebp), and retaped the harness. Reinstalled the harness and truck started right up and gave me the following codes. All referencing low voltage or reading.
P0107
P0237
P0405
P2104
P2132
P2138
P2139
P2285
I rechecked and don't think I forgot to plug anything back in. In the vast knowledge of your brain housing groups can you think of anything common to all of these codes or give me some direction? I sure would appreciate it.
P0107 MAP low input open VREF, signal circuit short to ground P0237 MAP sensor circuit open, short to ground P0405 EGR sensor circuit low or short to ground P2104 TSP failure
P2132 TPS sensor circuit low, open signal circuit short to ground P2138 TPSsensor circuit low, open signal circuit short to ground P2139 TPSsensor circuit low, open signal circuit short to ground P2285 ICPsensor circuit low, open signal circuit short to ground
The visual inspection was not enough. You need to check continuity pin to pin as well as short to shield and short to other wires. I don't have an '06 layout. I haven't checked if there is any difference between '03 and '04.
Thanks for the replies guys. cleared the codes and same ones came back. Had none of these prior to removing the harness. Was hoping someone had enough knowledge that they would know what's common to all these things and give me some direction on where to look.
Either replace the harness or test it all out like a good tech would do. You are not going to get "look 6 inches up from the EGR connection, 2 inches from the oil temp sensor, blue with a white stripe".
Did you have all the codes first, then you removed harness and found chafes and replaced pigtails plugs?
Or did you find chafes, removed harness & replaced plugs/pigtails and now you have all these codes?
I ask because maybe you wired a pigtail wrong and now have a short. Maybe start unplugging one sensor at a time and clear the codes and see what comes back.
If for example you unplug the EBP sensor and codes don't come back (except an EBP open code) then you'll be closer to the problem.
I wanted to thank everyone for their input. The ground wire was loose behind the FICM but not my problem. Disconnected the sensors one at a time that I replaced the pigtails on. EBP was the culprit. Disconnected it and all codes went away but that one. I will check the wiring tomorrow. This is a great forum with a great group of guys and a lot of knowledge. Thanks again.
Thanks Jack.
Hows that saying go, Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile!
Or, I should of been a roofer, I nailed it! 🤣
Does this mean I passed the test? I guess we have to wait and see.
Ok I'm done now.
