So i got my 300 pulled out today (because #1 rod went through block and oil pan both) and i could put a different 300 out of a f-100 i have or I've got a 429 cobra jet that I could make fit, its a complete motor my grandpa was saving for his imaginary ranchero.
That 429 is a great motor and I would jump at installing it....yes all the nay sayers will tell you,you have to change the transmission and motor mounts.
it definitely won't just bolt in to where the existing six is without work.
Well in terms of transmission the 429 already has a C6 bolted to it where it sits
Well that will help if you take it with the motor.
I dont know what trans is in the pick up but even if it is a C6 the bell housing on the 300 is a SBF and that other motor is a BBF.
I dont remember in that link if he also took the trans with the motor but think he did as I think it was a FMX he had to rebuild.
I am not a nay sayer and a lot depends on when he needs the truck up & running again and how much work he wants to put into making this happen.
If he needs the truck in a weeks time, dropping the other 300 in and having time to drink a few cold ones over rushing to get that big block in & running with no cold ones could be a factor
BTW does that BB have the right oil pan to clear the front cross member? If not then need to change it and the oil pump pick up.
Where do you think the exh manifold out lets will fall to get pipes on them?

I kept a front sump on my 390 when I put it in my bullnose. It works fine but it is a few degrees higher in the front than I'd like. I think doing it again I'd have put in a rear sump just for piece of mind.
yea i saw that, ill have to look around and see what i got, but could I somehow use some 460 motor mounts I have out of a 84 E350 RV.
They may indeed work, I think the E series has the same frame setup up front. Which reminds me your f150 won't have the dent in the crossmember for the oil filter adapter clearance. When Ford put the 460 in these trucks (the f250/350) they put a special dent in the front crossmember, and put a special oil filter adapter on it for oil filter clearance. Since you don't have the dent, and probably don't even have the special adapter, people just buy a aftermarket remote oil filter kit. I think you need a certain type that has right angle fittings to clear.
