I think I am going to go for a record of the longest time to get a part delivered after ordering.

I think I have you beat! back when I did the ground up rebuild on my 65 mustang (1986) , at that time the oem white steering wheels were being built in Italy..... You simply put your name on a list and waited until "Tony" felt like building you one! (literally). I had no intentions of waiting up to years (as was advised) to get one so I set about R&D to figure out how to effectively repair it myself. My wife having family members in Italy secretly contacted her "family" in Italy asking if they new "Tony" and sure enough they did..... it took about 1 year with them doing the "personal request" and I got my new steering wheel the next christmas!
I have been trying to get some parts i had bought before to find out that they are discontinued and they will no longer make/supply them.
wwhite
i have been following your thread. I told my wife that it would really suck to find out that they quit making that head being as you have one and have waited so long for the other. What do you do then? Cant run half of a motor
Actually you can. There used to be small block Ford air compressors that ran on one bank and the other bank was the compressor..
Not sure where to post this, but wanted to ask if anyone else has had problems with this? Especially aftermarket performance parts.
but since edelbrock, comp cams and crane cams combined. The three major companies i have bought from in the last year, parts are hit and miss.
mostly from parts discontinued to confusion between the three.
What happens when we rely on the Chicoms for everything.

I need a gas powered air compressor. I wonder how the compressor head works?
The run pretty good on 4 cylinders, lol. There's a short video on youtube.

I don't know, but I saw a couple in service trucks. Not sure if they were 302's or 255's though. Talk about a high volume compressor I don't recall if the compressor side used a stock cylinder head though, you'd need to stop the fuel/air from going in and plumb the exhaust ports to the air tank
I've worked on 2 of those compressors for a local rock quarry. One was a 351W and the other one used a flathead V8 both running on 4, pumping on 4. These had a special head on one side that wasn't shaped at all like a regular cylinder head. It was more of a block shape and it only shared the cooling system with the engine. Either one would pump a heck of a lot of air enough to run several hammer drills.

How the heck would a person find parts available for an old compressor head?
bet no one have made a hi performance compressor with an Edelbrock head.
ive passed away so many old compressors, saw the had 4 spark plugs, didn’t even think it was just half a v8
I would think that parts might not be too tough to find for something industrial like a compressor head. As long as it's regularly maintained it seems like compressor duty would be a pretty easy life for an engine. As far as a compressor with a single Edelbrock head now that would be different. Maybe it could rev higher and pump more air volume.
A friend of mine did a lot of work overseas and in South America. I think that it was Uruguay that was the place where they had lots of stuff for sale from shipping containers that had been "lost"...
Never knew Edelbrock and Comp combined. I just got a cam from Lunati, (Jegs) with no delays. AFR would be your next best bet as far as a quality USA made part. Also just got an email from Edelbrock for new products and see they're making a "Holley-like" carb now for 2022.

I think that AFR uses the Edelbrock foundry to pour their castings as do many other manufacturers. I wonder if it is up and running? All cam companies are struggling to get cores so you probably lucked out if you got your cam or it was one that was still sitting on the shelf.
