Almost a bad accident.... dashcam
For some reason this car thought it was a good idea to stop in the middle of a busy road and talk with a car on the shoulder. I was pulling a heavy load, and even with the distance I had been following, I couldn't stop it in time.
The ONLY damage was my front driver tire rubbed the Rear lower bumper.... the plastic part. Something that will buff out.
BTW, pulling a 24' double axle trailer with skid steer. Blew both rear shocks, warped a leaf spring.. thats just what I've found today in the daylight washing it off.
After I dropped the trailer off, the rest of the ride was, well, definitely a ride. The body would start bouncing side to side going down the road, and if I didn't physically correct it by either speed up or slowing down just right, I would have definitely rolled.
So, it's going to get upgraded asap. Modded b codes, new rear shocks, new bumpstops, 4.11 gears, electric brake controller, and at least a 2000w inverter.
Pulling a trailer for the last 2 weeks in an area with no electricity or water, ive learned a few things to say the least
Not sure why you bent a leaf spring and blew out shocks tho... I have had to lock mine up before hard such as when i had someone oncoming turn left right in front of me, never bent a spring or blown a shock.

I was cruising about 80 on the divided highway about 15-20 miles outside of town and there were some wild mustangs running in the riverbed we were passing, the cars ahead of me stabbed the brakes and locked up in front of me without warning just after we exited the bridge, and my choice was recessed median, or impact the car in front of me at speed. Out of reflex i momentarily locked up the brakes, realized i was not going to stop in time, let off and threw it into the median and mowed down several hundred feet of wild flowers and weeds as i came to a stop.
Then to add insult to injury, a Highway Patrol unit who apparently saw me go off the road watched me pull back into traffic, and then pulled me over once i passed them, and asked me why i went off the road for no reason, i explained that the cars ahead of me stopped suddenly and i was avoiding hitting them, but the one at my window gave me the "yea right" attitude and did they had me out and did a walk around my car, and looked through my car which i allowed them to, then finally took my ID and insurance back to run it, guessing thats when the saw my connection, and brought me back my info and told me to be more careful. I never tell them who i work for, because i have heard of situations where local cops think that you are rubbing it in their face if the first thing you tell them is your affiliation. I just play it like im john doe citizen, actually i have a routine that kind of messes with them just a little and has proven to have good luck so far. I am exuberantly happy with them, thinking to myself that eventually they will figure out who I am, but when i say exhuberant, i mean im smiling at them full face big smile like the scene of Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon. And i hold that smile the entire time, and just keep it up looking them in the eye, no shying off, not giving an attitude, basically acting like they just told me i won a prize, and i told just slightly louder than my normal level.
I also never show them any nervousness, or any submissiveness, i pile on the enthusiasm and the self confidence no matter how serious they are acting, and it just totally throws their game for a monkey wrench. If they start getting stern, i just keep up with the happy energetic and most importantly continuous direct eye contact and it really does just keep their game and their "be intimidating" and "control the situation" strategy out the window.
Dude they are so used to scared, pissed off, or other negative meetings, doing that really screws with them, like they will ask, can i look in your car, instead of just saying yea, and stepping out, Im like, OH yes sir, anything you like, im happy to help, and with that obscene smile because like i said, i know they are going to find nothing wrong, and that when they lookup my identity they will get a suprise anyway.
i love doing it!!!!!!! Maybe i need to get a body cam too, so i can catch some of this hillariousness.
Too bad you rubbed the other vehicle, but everyone stayed calm and slept on their own bed that night.
The video does show how bad these rigs brakes are. Its hard to tell but did the anti lock brakes even kick in? Also how fast was you going, looks like stopping distance was about 90 feet?
I was a few miles from home and passed under the interstate. The 2 lanes merge about 1/4 mile up and traffic is often nutso as folks in the merge lane have to "pass just 1 more" vehicle before cutting over. Luckily, traffic was light that morning and when the 1 lane ran out there was a man's body in the shoulder. I u-turned at the end of the median and dialed 911. I gave the location, explained that there was someone lying on the shoulder of the road, and that I was making another u-turn to investigate. I stopped on the shoulder about 2 pickup lengths short of the man and, with EMS still on the phone, approached him. It turned out to be an immigrant that spoke absolutely no English who was waiting on a ride from his friends. With nothing else to do he apparently decided to grab some shut-eye. As I'm trying to see if the guy's OK and relay it over the phone, a 4-passenger miniature sedan with a little old man at the wheel stopped in traffic to let his passenger talk (in English, of course) to the guy that I'm trying to talk to. Thankfully, only hilarity ensued as traffic managed to miss him, me, my truck, and the guy napping on the shoulder. The car left and moments later a beat up older Suburban arrived with his friends, he got in, and that was the end of it.
I appreciate that those older folks were trying to help. But between the sleeping immigrant and me, two of us were already exposed to heightened risk. Even running into the back of my pickup risked killing both of us.
And what's worse, is that I'm sure that the old man thought he was helping and had done his good deed for the day.
