I have some question to ask before I can answer... what engine, transmission and rear gears are you planning on running? are you wanting to use the truck, DD, hi-way driving, trailer queen?

I'm running Cooper Cobra Radial GT 225/70R15 on 15x7 wheels up front and Cooper Cobra Radial GT 275/60R15 on 15x8-1/2 on the rear

I am running 275/60-15 in the rear and 255/60-15 in front. They are on 8" wide wheels, stock suspension.
Theoretical height is 27.9" in back and 27.04" in front. No issues with clearance or rubbing at any time.

Your lucky that you got the whole drivetrain from one vehicle. '84 F150 came with either 215/75R15 (27.6") or 235?75R15 (28.75") came stock. Staying around those height tires you'll stay in the designed RPMs.

I certainly wouldn't go any smaller than 28" at stock height they barely fill the wheel well .

I run the exact same tire that you are looking at up front and in the rear (Nitto 555 G2)

255 / 50 / 17 and 295 / 40 /18

Comparable sizes with 17 inch rims would be 235/60/R17 and 275/55/R17
Hi John

You and I have similar suspension set ups on our trucks, what back spacing did you go with on your rims?

Thanks, Jim

All rims have 4 inch back spacing, with the Explore rear diff I used 1/4" spacer plates behind the rim to center the rim. The 4 " back spacing was a standard back space 3.75" was considered custom...

Unless you have widened fenders or bed tubs a 285 will hit. I have 245/60/18 on the rear and they just fit in the well.
