All: In the process of re-installing my Instrument panel, and looking for clues on the wiring.
I have the Jim Osborn wiring diagram booklet so have been able to reconnect most of the wiring and lamps to the correct locations. However, on the RH (driver) side of the loom where the the Oil Pressure gauge wiring exits the loom, there are two other wires that are not found on the JO diagrams and not obvious how they connect
They are 1) an all black wire with an eyelet at the end that should go to a stud & hold-down nut connection
And 2) a black w/green trace 16 gauge wire with a rubber covered male spade connector which itself has a short black w/green 16 gauge wire with a female spade connector coming out of the base of the male connector
These latter two look like they might be connected to a second Constant Voltage Regulator (CVR), but that is not shown on any of the JO diagrams.
Does anyone have any ideas on how these two wiring conundrums can be resolved? Where/how do these connect?
Many thanks for your suggestions. Cheers Jeff
Someone recently posted this link in another thread, cannot find it now, but I bookmarked it. It, in turn, has links to some wiring diagrams, you might find some info in one of them?
The CC unit has only one turn signal indicator light. I think (could be wrong) that the round speedo unit has two indicator lights. If that’s the case I’m sure there would be only one harness leaving orphan wire(s). Just a stab at it. Good luck.
I saw something similar last time I was under the dash and figured I would figure that out when I got to the interior. I really like Gavin’s theory because everything seems to work on my CC dash despite the extra wires.
I did purchase a second CC dash on Craigslist where they just cut the wires and left them on the back of the dash. I will look and see if it offers something that might help.
That is what's left of the Charge Indicator Feed harness, p/n C5TZ-.10A665A, B or C. It was optional on both standard and Custom Cabs and only came standard as part of the Camper Special option. The harness went through the firewall and had 2 large wires, one was connected to a junction block next to the starter solenoid and the other went to the starter solenoid. A second oil filter lead went to a sending unit so you had both an idiot light and a gauge. The other wires were for the lights in the pods.
