What does cab vs cowl mean
What does cab vs cowl mean
I have a 1995 f800 flatbed dump truck. I'm using some electrical schematics to redo the trailer wiring, and the manuals usually break things down cab vs cowl. What does this mean exactly??
Thanks
Thanks
Cab schematics show the wiring diagrams for everything inside the cab
Cowl schematics show the wiring diagrams for everything outside the cab starting at the firewall or back of the cab depending on where the wires exit

Interesting, that makes sense. In the context of 'body type' (like on the door jam vin tag), code 7 is "chassis-cowl" and code 8 is "chassis-cab". My truck is a chassis-cab, what would a chassis-cowl be? Any truck that doesn't have a cab (school bus)?
School bus, armored car, ice cream truck are examples.
There's another illustration, if I can find it:

There is another chassis only model, the P series for "Parcel Delivery". Some with forward controls. Used for UPS, or motor home. F53 or F59 currently. And there were also "cutaway" Econolines.
