Hello! First post here. We recently picked up an F700 to use on the farm and haul steel. I'm trying to put together a folder with all the specs for our maintenance records. Looking through some of the other posts, I believe I have most of the information on the door sticker decoded, but I can't seem to find any record of the U7 axle code that's listed.....thats assuming that U7 is, in fact, the axle code and just printed off center. Attached is a snap of the door sticker with all the pertinent info.....
Can anyone shed some light on what exactly I've bought?

H = 370 V8. All versions of the 370 are covered by this code. Standard gas, low compression, LP gas, each 2BBL or 4BBL
5 = check digit
F = 1985
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
A12421 = Production sequence number
171 = 171 inch wheelbase
F770 = F700 gas 4x4 21,200 lbs GVWR (Note your tag says 24,000 lbs GVWR)
GH8 = I don't have that info. This is cab, seat, upholstery.
Trans code SN = Spicer model CM4054A five speed direct transmission
Axle code U7 = Rockwell (Timken) model H-173 single speed rear axle, 17,500lbs capacity, 6.83 ratio
141981 this appears with "DSO" printed under it.
14 = Pittsburg District Code
1981 = Special order number.
No front axle code & no paint code, so paint & front axle probably part of the special order
I have not done many decodes of 17 digit VIN trucks so if something doesn't match up, please let me know.
Great! Thanks for looking that up. All that appears to be correct. That rear axle code was being elusive for some reason. When I searched through a bunch of old threads and found images of scans taken from parts/service manuals, none of them ever seemed to list that specific code.
