Differential / Transmission

I have a 89 F250 XLT lariat 4x4

How can i tell what diffs I have on the front and rear?

And is 2500 RPMs at 55MPH normal?

there are codes on a tag on the driver's side door jam. find those codes,post them up here and someone can tell you what they are or you can look up a axle/transmission code decoder.

really guys... Lets be a little more helpful

Look at the door jam sticker and the the code uner "Axle." this is what your looking for... You see the axle code circled in red "29."

Now take the code and go here:

wow guess i wasn't helpful because i didn't have the fancy pictures and links even though i said the same thing you did,he just had to do a little work on his own

Just decoded the vin off that tag and it has the 4.9L so it's Thumpers tag. Thumper has a Zf 5spd so I'm guessing ford either changed their codes or it is a wide ratio ZF.
