Looking to replace the clutch return spring (mounted down by the frame rail) for my 79 F-150 4x4. I believe the original p/n is D7TZ7523F. It is coiled pretty much the full length.
I see several postings for others looking for the same but they are posts that are up to 20 years old when the springs were still available NOS. I'd rather not use a universal spring since the ones I've seen seem thin gauge. Checked all the normal sources for our trucks but have come up empty. Any leads would be appreciated.
I had the same problem a few years ago. Mine broke, and I've never been able to find an exact replacement. I did find one that was longer. I cut the long end and bent a hook into it. It works just like the original. Unfortunately I don't remember what is was for or where I bought it, but you can probably find the same one. I saw a post somewhere where a guy used a much shorter spring, and made up a cable to lengthen it. That was kinda janky but it worked for him.
#7523 well once you locate your application (on the other 2 pages) you can use the description to get a matching one. Even though it might be universal and from a Farm and Ranch store.
