Centramatic wheel balancers??

I came across a couple of threads on here where guys were commenting about Centramatic Wheel balancers for those that are running them are you using them with wheel weights or did you remove your wheel weight?

I removed mine. This is from their FAQ

In most cases, pre-balancing is not required. However, if a vibration still exits after installation, a computer balance of the problem position can indicate a mis-mounted or defective tire, a bent wheel or other "out of round" condition, which balancing alone cannot correct. Wheel bearings should also be checked and defective parts replaced.

my reasoning for asking is I know the tire shops I frequent say balancing beads and wheel weights will work against each other. And Centramatics are I guess similar in a way. For anyone reading this I’m just relaying what I was told. Whether it’s fact or not please don’t grill me lol.

I ran both wheel weights and the centramatics. The wheel weights will handle the majority of the balancing, while the centramatics would fine tune any imperfection, and adjust for snow/ice/mud/rocks stuck to the wheel or tire.

Just keep in mind that some tires will require more weight to balance than just the centramatics can handle themselves.

Mine ran smooth as glass…same for Dynabeads when I used them combined with weights.

I'm running them no wheel weights. Smooth as glass now on the interstate.

Anyone have experience with these with 37” tires?

I find I have to have my balanced every 10k miles or so.

I’d call Centramatics and talk to them. I don’t see why they wouldn’t work on 37” tires. They rub them on allot of semis.

I had my 40's balanced almost perfectly with stick on wheel weights by my tire shop, and added a pair of centramatics to maintain the balance in between re-balancing. I ended up having a slight shake at around 65 mph and the centramatics took care of that it seems.

I'm running 40x13.50r17's so I have the smaller 16" sized balancers, so the effects aren't necessarily "night and day", but I'd assume the larger the balancer the better the results would be.

I also run both the centramatic balancers and wheel weights. The seem to work well together.

Lots of Wrangler and Power Wagon guys who off-road a lot run them. They say they're great at keeping things balanced once they hit blacktop again, even with mud/rocks stuck in the tires.

I've heard nothing but good about them.

Yeah I’ve ran them for years on big rig but just recently within last 1-2 years on my pickup. Just wasn’t sure if everyone was running them with or without the wheel weights in place. They’ve been great though since day one

I'm pretty disappointed with them so far. I just installed the set of four 300-318 on my 2017 F350 with 20 inch wheels. I removed the stick on weights and installed the Centramatic dynamic balancers. Based on all of the videos and reviews I really expected to see an improvement. Unfortunately, I still feel the same or slightly worse vibration at highway speeds. I think my next stop is a tire and wheel shop to see if there's something wrong with the rims or the tires.
