Intake Air Temperature Sensor

AIT Sensor 91 F150 4.9 L 135,000 miles Approx. 6000 miles w/out Smog pump operating

Good Day,
This be the AIT Sensor from my 1991 F150 4.9L. Hopefully AIT stands for: AIT, this is the LAST sensor that the Truck needs to make it a Happy Truck. I have participated in the F150 School of Emissions this year and this Forum has provided me with all sorts of advice and info. Thank You, Very Much. I had to take a picture of this guy. Since the guys at the Auto Parts Store couldn’t figure out how to work their OBD gadget and I noticed the CEL flashing 512 when I got in to do the KOEO for them, I just did the jumper wire and make a movie of the CEL at home after that. Just about the only thing I haven’t took a gander at would the EVP and the O2 Sensors. It has never griped about the O2, which seems to be AMAZING since he lives just downwind from this guy. That includes a comprehensive Tune Up and Timing Check since a guy set the Timing “by ear” when I first got the Truck in 2012. The plugs were AMAZING also. Evidently this is the first time anybody has put any LOVE into this Truck, of any kind.
Now, to the question part: Is there anything I should do to try to clear some of this crap out from here? I noticed that the small air filter under the big air filter was AWFUL and so was the elbow he attaches to and the hose to the Breather Cap. That was the first bunch of items I messed with on this journey. They tried to hide the PCV Valve real good but I used a Mirror and finally found it! The Smog Pump was kicked out of the Serpentine Belt Party about 9 years or 9,000 miles ago for being whiny and beyond my means at the time to replace.
I have never had a vehicle with all this Emission stuff before. 1964 F100’s and 1974 Beetles were much easier to play with. I plan on reaming out the Catalytic Converter and have removed the other gadgets and plugged off the hoses, etc. that are part of that System.
Thank You for all the help, so far.

I use carb cleaner to knock off that crud. Let it air dry before reinstalling.

Got a new AIT.

Oh, that AIT is history. The connection part crumbled under the deep socket. Now, I was thinking, maybe put the threaded part back in for a minute just to spray Sea Foam in the Throttle Body so I don’t instantly goop up the new one. Right? I guess I should get it kind of warmed up first, Right? I have the spray kind and the liquid kind of Sea Foam stuff. Thanks for the reply.

I am not a Sea Foam fan. Perhaps others will chime in.
