I am asking for any help available to get stuck valves out of the block,(239 flathead). I have tried blast it without success. I cannot get anything under the valve to force it up and a couple are up a short ways but not enough to get ahold of the shaft.
Did you get the horseshoe clips off the guides? If so, the guides must have moved some, so hitting them with plenty of penetrating oil thru the ports may get them loose. If not, break out the torch...
Haven't gotten the clips out even the ones that I have taken the valve out of. I rigged up my dent puller with a nail to create a hook for the clips and cannot get them to move.
To get the clips out, you need a tool that pulls the guide down towards the cam. If the guides are stuck it will be tough. Is the engine out of the truck?
The clips are seated in a counter bored pocket, they will not come out unless the guide is moved down about 1/4" first. You can use a valve spring compressor and remove the spring keepers from the valve stem and pull the valves out, but the valve will have to be fully seated to use a spring compressor on it. The springs can be pryed out after the valve is removed, but it can damage the springs.
