1969 Grumman Olsonette

I just bought a 1969 Grumman Olsonette step van as a project. The engine is running, but it needs a new carburetor. I order a stock replacement one from Rock Auto.

Now, it has no brakes, and it seems to have no brake booster. The brake pedal is attached directly to the master cylinder.

Is this common for that year P350 Fords?

Should I add a booster? if so, I guess I would also have to replace the wheel cylinders for a different type than what it has?

Please help!

I have no idea about your questions but that is a neat looking "little" rig. What are your plans for it? If would make a cool little camping rig.

Good luck with it.

I’m planning on making it a camping rig. I’m going to strip all the paint and polish the aluminum. Somebody recommended that I use baking soda to blast the paint. It will remove the paint, but will not damage the metal.

I just got the carburetor replacement to install. I’ll check the compression to see how the engine is doing.

What is urgent right now is the breaks. I’ll be working on that next.

you can update to power brakes by adding a booster. the problem is going to be finding one that works with the master you have, and mounting location.
no need to change wheel parts, they do not care if it is manual or power brakes.
