They didn't center the steering box when they installed it, that's why the steering wheel turns are different left to right. That could be some of your drift problems. When a box is straight ahead, there's an internal bypass so you don't get power assist until you go off center. Since the box is off center when you're going straight, there's some power assist being applied, possibly causing your wander. Sounds like some real bonehead work, I'd be worried about what else they didn't do right that will be an issue in 5, 10, 15K miles. For what they charged you that truck shoulda been perfect. Was this at a stealership?
I didn’t know that about the center point of steering box, you may be on to something.
The pitman is keyed, if you can put it on 90 off that would be pretty obvious I would think. The arm can't turn but maybe 45 or 60 degrees so 90 off would be locked all the way in one direction and the wheels would still be turned in a direction. I also think the steering box is keyed by the pinch bolt. Is there a slide shaft in the steering between the firewall and the steering box? That shaft MAY have been pulled apart at the shop and they put it back together but did so 180 off. This is just weird. Anyone have a 04 and can measure from pitman to the pass hub and determine a rough length that tie rod is supposed to be. They may have had the wheel 1 turn off when they aligned it and fixed it by adjusting the tie rods to the new, f'd up length. Is the pitman arm straight in line with the frame at what should be straight ahead or is it angled when the wheels are straight?
