Pulled the Distributor w/o marking

Well, I tried the swap from the TFI ignition to the DurasparkII today. I got the distributor, harness and Duraspark module from a truck from the junkyard. I cleaned it all up. I pulled the distributor from my truck, read the manuals AFTER to see what alignment marks I should look for, but I found out I was supposed to make my own marks! Yikes.... I put the "new" one in where I thought it should go, guess what, duh, it won't start. Any help in trying to get that in the right spot would be GREAT.

Thanks...

Rick R.

I attempted this. I belive I had it correct the first time. Engine ran smooth, but wouldn't idle. When I shot it with the timing light, it ran best when the timing was way before TDC, off the scale. When I adjusted it up, the engine really ran bad. Thought maybe I had the distributor in wrong, so I tried it again. Nope, I think it was correct the first time. Was getting to be bedtime, so I quit for the day. What would have caused the timing to be so off the mark?

Thanks.

Hey! I got it all straightened out. Helps to have all of the vacuum ports plugged! Timed out pretty well. Anxious to run a tank of fuel thru it to see if I get better than 11mpg....

Thanks for the help folks.
