Ranger PS Problems

The other day my seal on the pitman arm shaft on my '93 Ranger 4.0 4x4 blew out. I got the new seal kit from Ford and it keeps blowing out. The only thing I can think of is that the housing where the snap ring goes in is so worn that it wont hold the ring in anymore. I really don't want to replace the PS box.

It is set up like this:

Bearing | Seal | Dust Cap | Snap Ring | Pitman Arm | Lock Washer | Nut

Thanks again!!!

I just had the same problem with my 1990 f250. I replaced the seals and tested the system before re-installing the pitman arm and the snap ring and seals blew out again. Upon further inspection, it seems that the groove for the snap ring was wore out or partially missing. I wonder if this is a common problem? I decided to re-install the seals again and this time weld a spare spacer ring in after the snap ring to hold it all in. I did this because I figured the box inevitably needed to be replaced. it seemed to work for a little while but wanted to leak a little when the steering wheel was only turned to the right all the way. I think it's time to replace the steering box. any Ideas anyone?
