FordPass App is not responding!

So, on 8/12 I got my VIN. I immediately added it to my FordPass app. Then it sat there... when I would open either the app, or the vehicle dashboard on the website, it just said "F250 Superduty"...

Then in one of the other threads I saw where folks were recently getting the "Activate Now" screen, even if all they had was the VIN and the truck wasn't even built, so long as it was entered into the account. Of course it still couldn't be activated because the truck has to be in your possession to actually activate it, but mine still didn't even show the "Activate Now" button that others were seeing... At this point in time, my truck still wasn't built either.

So, I figured I would force the app to find that button by removing the vehicle, deleting the app, reinstalling it and adding it back. Problem is, after reinstalling it, the app will no longer take my VIN. I tried on the website, and nothing there either... After entering the (correct) VIN on the app, it would search, then a larger "!" popped up and said "FordPass app is not responding." When trying on the website, after entering the VIN a popup showed up with 2 buttons: "re-enter" or "cancel." I tried copying and pasting, and even typing in the VIN just in case the copy and paste method also copied some weird font settings or something. (Although, when I initially entered it in August, it was a copy and paste on the app and it immediately took it.)

Then I contacted the FordPass App help desk via the Chat Now button... she said that it was probably something on their end and to just try the next day. While she was there though, she tried to pull up my VIN and she couldn't get anything to pull up, and since I typed it into the chat box, it was correct. Also, that day it started changing the message from "FordPass app not responding" to "This is an invalid VIN."

Fast-forward to today. My truck is now built, and it shows up in all the trackers.... so I figure it's gotta be ok now. I download the app again, log back in, add the VIN... same thing. So, I called the FordPass people. When she entered my VIN she still gets nothing back like it's not even a real VIN... so, she is telling me now to just wait till it gets here and let the dealer try it and to call them if that doesn't work...

Considering it won't even take the VIN, I'm sure that it won't matter if the truck is right next to me or not... it's gotta take the VIN before it can start talking to the truck... or so I imagine. I have also now even tried scanning the barcode on my window sticker through the app, but I get the same response... not responding. Also, I was nervous that when I "removed" the vehicle from my account I may have messed up doing that, but she said that that was not a problem, and when people start having issues this is typically the first thing they recommend customers to do (after deleting and reinstalling the app). So by simply removing the VIN from my account should not have caused any permanent problems. In fact, it should have done as I thought, and forced the app to start over, and likely even prompted the "Activate Now" button... but it didn't.

So, has anyone else had similar experiences, and if so, do you have any recommendations that you can offer, aside from waiting for the truck to arrive and then spending more time on the phone with the dealer trying to get it sorted out...? I kind of wish I hadn't removed it now, but I feel like it wouldn't have mattered in this case, of course I can't know that now though. And I'd love to have it ready so that when I get there to pick it up and crank it up I can start activating it right then!

I think we all are going to breath a collective sigh of relief when your truck arrives. Your stress is palpable.

Perhaps your truck is stuck in screen that requires the driver to answer yes or no to activation? Perhaps until someone presses "no" in the truck it won't pull up again? Seems unlikely.

You may be the first person needing to schedule warranty work before the truck even is delivered.

betting until its actually delivered that your truck will not work correctly on the ford pass app as its not yours yet. can you imagine doing a remote start while its on a train?
relax . its not your truck until you take delivery so it should not work at all or very very minimal

I tried it and got the same error message. My other truck is working fine on the app. It's not really "our" truck yet so this makes perfect sense. They leave the factory in transportation mode, whatever that is.

I imagine we all will... including me... and my poor dealer! lol...

Believe it or not, I am much better now that I know it's actually built. But, it is throwing me that it took the VIN just fine the first time, but now it's not. I guess that could make sense though that maybe by me adding it the first time it activated something that must be cleared in the actual truck... I dunno... all this time to just sit and think! Got me crazy!

And I would have believe that about the warranty work before the truck is delivered, but then I remembered all the recent axle recalls! (I have questions in those threads too...)

Factory Mode

Your system is in factory mode. It will get cleared at the dealer when it gets unloaded.

dude holy FUC@ you need to chill, you will be able to connect your ford pass when you get to your truck. until you are sitting your *** in your truck and connecting to fordpass for the first time, dont say its not responding. it will work fine when you get to the truck. your post was way too exhausting for me to read, did you delete the app from your phone and reinstall then try to add vin number?

I know it was long… but I included all the details…

I didn’t say the app wasn’t responding… the app did, as well as the FordPass people…
And to your last question… yes, yes, and yes…

Lets all chill now! It was just a post that no one has to reply to…

I know it will… just trying to do what I can beforehand. I’ve got all my stuff ready to go once it gets here! But it’s had my blood pressure up lately! I don’t think I’ll be keeping up with the tracking though and just let it show up… if I do I’ll be posting all kinds of questions and concerns about the railroads! Lol…

Once it gets here I promise my posting will slow down… cause I’ll be sitting in my truck!

Once I had my rail car number I tracked it twice a day, first think in the morning, and later that evening. It took about 2 days(give or take) to get from KTP to Jessup MD. the hardest part for me was the truck sitting in a rail yard for 7 days before being delivered 16 miles to the dealer. once it arrives in the rail yard all you can do is wait.

See, I’d be checking twice every 5 minutes and asking why it’s doing what it was doing every 30. I know it’s true! But it does look like most are being delivered fairly quick once it ships… I’m just hoping mine isn’t that one that takes an abnormal amount of time… and if I watch it, it likely will be! I’m less than 350 miles from the plant though, so I hope thats a good thing shipping wise.

Once it gets here though I’ll be busy getting everything installed, and then tinkering with Forscan! This will be my first truck, and my first diesel though, so I am excited. Can’t wait to hook our camper up and go on another trip! It’s been a long year with my camper just sitting here…waiting for this truck.

I added my power running boards with forscan on sunday, next up is double honk, tire pressures, and to make my parking lights my DRL that should be all my forscan mods.
