Hi! I'm trying to figure out what trans I have in my 98 expo. It's a cross breed between a e4od and 4r100. I have bearings in it where the e4od has thrust washers so its confusing. Truck has the manufacturer date of 07/98. I'm upgrading and doing a stage 2 rebuild with more papers and steels and sonnax hp-4r100-01 valve kit. From aluminum planets to steel, machined center support, hardened sun shell, welded reverse hub and triple clutch , billet cover TQ.
Problem I'm having is the check ball locations. Valve bodies are stamped as '96 and is showing check ball "BS6" is not used for some models on the main to lower vb. 4r100 manual shows 2 cb and e40d shows 3. Tried to decode the vin but cant find what trans I have with the 17th digit being 0. All VB are stamped as RF-F6 for '96 production and space plates are stamped '98.
Have a decent amount of $ in this trans and dont want anything to mess up. Something broke in my TQ so that's reason for the rebuild. This is the second build so dont remember if there were three 1/4 cb or 2. I believe I didnt delete anything on the first build but not sure anymore. I font want a missing check ball to destroy the trans.
