Do the brakes lights engage when the adaptive cruise control slows the vehicle? When using the adaptive cruise control, the truck will maintain a certain distance from another vehicle directly in front of me. When another vehicle pulls in front of me or in situations where the traffic flow speed varies, the truck will slow, sometimes rather quickly. In these cases I wonder if the guy behind me sees brake lights activate each time my vehicle slows.

Unless the brake lights have a problem, I really don’t see how or why the brake lights wouldn’t turn on whenever the brakes are suddenly applied to slow the vehicle down or stop it.
It’s illegal to dive without brake lights so I can’t see Ford or any vehicle manufacturer that offers such a system where said brake lights are not activated via the scenario you mentioned.
With regards to Adaptive cruise control, I really don’t see a reason for the brake lights to come on because it’s really no different than a person letting off the gas when traffic is slowing ahead and we all have done this on the interstate without touching the brake pedal.
Glad to hear, so many times on interstates with left turn lanes the traffic builds up and 3 or 4 are turning, the left lane is for passing and the turn lane is usually plugged with 5 vehicles. Those driving 80 plus with a speed limit of 65 and the traffic naturally moves above 3 mph above 65. ! It means for hard braking a couple of times every holiday when people are returning home !
I question the same about the Lightening and Regen, does the brake lights turn on when the truck goes into Regen !

I could be wrong but it makes sense to me.
Adaptive cruise can apply some pretty serious braking power. It does a lot more than just let off the gas.
