Going Nuts !

I haven't been on in awhile and not been working on my 49 F1 until about two weeks ago.. Taking the advice from various people on here I put a 66 Mustang gas tank in the rear bed with a Scott Drake sending unit in it. Everything went very well except for one silly simple thing and this is what's preventing me from finishing the project ! The gas sending unit does not come with a nut and washer to attach the wiring to it and the one on the 49 gas tank is not the same size . I have tried quite a few nuts and none thread on. Short of removing the sending unit and going to a hardware store with it in hand . ( I filled the tank up with 5 gallons of gas ) and that's not feasible does anyone know the proper size and thread nut ?

If it's after market, most likely MM.

Call Scott Drake customer service or tech support..... they should be able to answer your question.

You should have gotten the nut with the sending unit but...since you didn't, it sounds like a good time to invest in a thread pitch gauge and a screw size gauge. Most gauges accommodate SAE and metric sizes.

I changed out a fan switch sender the other day and it had a metric nut. So I took it down to the hardware store and it turns out this particular one was a M4×0.7
Thinking the nut you are looking for may be the same.
I hope it helps!

Good to know!
Can you please let us know what size it turned out to be? Did it turn out to be M4 X 0.7?
Thanks in advance!
