I have a 1995 e350 with the 7.3. Today, I drove to a car show and parked the van. I went to start it hours later only to find the ignition switch inoperable. It has lost the click click feeling and wouldn’t start the van.
I go over to the parts store for a new ignition cylinder and promptly replace it. The truck starts first try. The problem was fixed, or so I thought.
I drive home and go to shut down the van down, only to find I can’t. I put the key off and remove it and the truck still is clack a lacking like no ones business. Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated. I did eventually get the truck to shut down by pulling a fuse in the power distribution box.
Also I had to disconnect the batteries because the radio would not power off. It’s as if the ignition cylinder lost its function. What can cause this and how do I fix it? Thank you all very much for reading my story and trying to help me out
