I have a factory am-fm casette in my '98 and want to put in a factory cd-player. I have heard the wiring harness has to be changed. Does anyone know if this is so and what is involved with changing it? Also what years would fit (97-03?) as I am looking for a used player.
Thanks in advance
Don
I agree, there is no reason th harness should be different it your installing an OEM unit.
BTW, there are aftermarket double din sized head units available if your just trying to avoid using an adapter kit for mounting. Pionneer makes a nice one that has CD and Casette both.
Just like to add an idea that worked well for me. I have a 97 F-250 LD and didn't want to rip apart my dash for a CD player. I bought a CD changer for about 100 bucks at Walmart and installed it in my console out of sight. I was able to keep the stock stereo and stock look and play 10 CD's for about the cost of a single in-dash unit.
