Diesel Warm up

Hi,

just curious what do you do to heat up your Diesel in Winter
I for me use a blueheat system by Webasto to get the engine warm and the windows ice free.

Kidoo,

Please don't ask me why they call it "BlueHeat".
It is a Water heater and it's used in conjunction with the vehicle heater to heat the driving compartment, for defrosting the windows and for the pre heating water cooled engines. The heater operates independently of the vehicle and is connected to the cooling system, the fuel system and the electrical system in the vehicle.
The Heater is swiched on by either a switch, a digital timer, a cell phone or with a remote system.

If the Heater has warmed up the water in the engine up to 132 degree F the system will switch on your stock fan, if the water is 173 degree F hot the system will switch into to energy saving mode.
If the water temperature drops under 155 degree F the system restarts.

The system is powered by either Diesel or Gas, depends what your truck needs.

For me the only choise since I can't plug in.....unfortunetely we have 220 Volts so the plug in heater would work only for a few seconds...

I also have a cooling system circulator. It works on 110 volt and it only circulate the refrigerant by heating it. It works good but it does not shutt off by itself and it does not need diesel of gaz, it is just a heating element in line with the heating lines. You could buy a 220 - 110 converter to power your system.

I go to school in New York and they dont have plug ins so i just have to hope it will start on its own. Alwasy has so far hope it alwasy does since i work off campus and use the truck for my daily driver. If it dont start I do have a generator on the truck to plug it in if i had to.

Kidoo,

sure but those things are incredible expensive if you need 1000 watts of power. The other thing is that I have to lay a cable over the sidewalk to the truck , to dangerous for other people

Hi,

I bought my System on a flea Market and a second on from eBay.
In my truck is a system made by Webasto which I installed when I bought the truck, in 1993. The heater itself is build in 1981. It is working fine, never had a problem.
The second on is made by Eberspächer and it is installed into my girlfreinds 2001 Focus. It is build in 1985.

Both Systems are very similar in shape and function.
Since new heaters are expensive you can find those things at eBay.
I did a search on eBay USA, but I didn't find one so if you are interested in getting one you may search eBay Germany. Type in the search field the german word for the heater: "Standheizung" If you need assistance, photo or the Instructions for information please, feel free and contact me
