I think this is an old Ford wheel. 21 years ago I mounted on a pole at my mini-farm to hang a water hose on. Is this an old ford truck wheel?
I don't believe it to be a factory Ford wheel. AFAIK, Ford used wire wheels through '35 with the 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern, then switched to the wide 5 wheels with the artillery style sculpture around the rim through 39, then solid disc wheels and back to the 5 on 5 1/2 pattern until 49 for cars and forever on trucks. With the clip hubcap retainers and pilot holes between the lug holes, it could be Chrysler, bigger GM or any number of oddball and orphan cars from the 30's. Even if it were an aftermarket wheel like Stu's ads represent, I still think the bolt pattern is incorrect for a Ford.
looks like mopar due to the holes for the alignment pins and what looks to be 5x41/2 bp.
That's what I thought and was about to swear to it when I started to look at old mopar wheels from the 30's which is where I would date this, they didn't look like that at all. That's when I started to question myself and left a more generic post.
