Question engine trouble
hey,
I have a 78 ford f150 with a 400. when i drive it when it is cold it pops and idles bad. It has the factory two barrel carb on it which i have rebuilt and it doesn't seem to help no matter what i do. Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix it would be helpful.

Carb icing? Is the factory heat riser to the air cleaner hooked up and working?

i have replaced all plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. the heat riser is hooked up

Maybe the choke is opening too fast or the EGR valve is not closing all of the way.
