Nevada September BS Thread

Good morning & welcome to the month of September. Birthday wishes to me(on the 3rd) and anyone else with the birthday this month.
I hope everyone is safe and doing well. Between covid and all these fires, who knows what will happen next.
Speaking of covid, August was a pretty eventful month for Jimmy & I. 4 of our friends came down with covid & 3 are still in the hospital but sadly on Aug. 30th we attended the funeral of our close friend & my former employer, Paul Wilson (Art Wilson Co.) He was the youngest of Art Wilson's children & one of the best employers I've ever had.
He was a great man & is deeply missed.
Jimmy's mom & cousin also were in the hospital (separate incidents). His mom broke her hip & 2 vertebrae and is currently home recovering further. His cousin broke her collarbone, as well as a couple ribs and vertebrae. I believe she is still in the hospital that should be going home soon.
On a somewhat positive note, I'm going to be a Grandma again - for the 4th time! I just wish it was on better circumstances. Kaedon, my youngest daughter is far from having her s*** together and is going to be a single mom with no means to provide for a child... much less herself. But, it's her choice to have to struggle through the rest of her life. She thinks raising a child is all peaches and cream and it's going to be easy. Unfortunately she's going to find out the hard way & miss out on the fun years hanging out &/or going places with friends w/o a curfew. Now she'll have a child to take care of 24/7 & she wont be able tp go do whatever/whenever she wants. But, typical kid ... She knows everything and Mom doesn't know anything! Eventually she will understand why I was so overprotective and controlling with alot of things. But hey... I tried the best II could to raise my children properly and I know I made plenty of mistakes along the way. Parenting doesn't come with a handbook. I love my children unconditionally and I just want them to be happy and successful in life. I'm proud of my children either way!
On a different note, will you be going to Street Vibrations this year? It's Sept. 23rd - 26th with events happening in Reno/Sparks, Virginia City and Carson City. We'll be in Carson and BC but we avoid Reno as Jimmy does not like crowds.(such a party pooper) Lol
Hope to see you all at Street Vibes!

Howdy everyone.

I hope everyone recovers quickly Donna, So sorry for your loss.

We have made it through our situation. 2 months ago, we received a phone call from our property manager. He informed us the owners of the home we rent want to sell.
He said we can purchase or be served with a 30 day to vacate notice! I know w e are not the only ones going through this situation. So many people are trying to cash in on the real estate boom.
Initially we figured we could find a place to rent without to much trouble. Oh, how wrong we were. The market is insane, for rentals and for sale! Every rental we looked at already had multiple applications and was so much higher that it was just a year ago.
We discussed it, and we decided to see if we could purchase. We go pre-approved for a mortgage. We got a realtor and had her submit an offer for the home we have lived in for 7.5 years.
We also started looking for other homes that might be a better option for our family. We found several homes that we put in offers on while the owners were countering our offers with ridiculous terms.
Every home we put in offers on had multiple offers with insane offers over asking without the people even seeing the homes. We were using everything we had for escrow and closing costs.
We were not able to offer over what the homes would appraise for. It seemed bleak for a while and we even thought we might end up in an apartment. I don't do well in that environment.
Then, magically, the owners accepted our counter offer! There were still more issues to work out but we were now under contract. As of 9/1/21 we own the right to call this our home. The bank owns the note. LOL.
It's not the dream home, but it keeps the minion in the same school, and we know the house and the neighborhood. We have lots of plans for the house so the truck may get pushed back yet again.

Good morning Nevada! Greg, I'm glad that worked out for you, my friend! This housing market is just ridiculous! It'll be nice, not having that landlord over your head now, congrats on getting the house!

Thank Pat. Having to put out all that money for down payment has really put the truck plans on the back burner.
Problem is, I need to get it driving again since the minion will be taking over the XJ soon.
Still having fuel issues with heat soak/vapor lock. Going to get the tank installed under the bed and an electric pump installed.
I hope this will be enough to make it reliable. If not I am looking into EFI systems. Holley now has a single barrel FI system but it mounts on the Autolite 1100 and not the Carter YF/YFA.
