I have a 94 e150 with a 5.0 not sure what transmission. IT won’t shift until it hits 35mph and the motor is high rpms SOMETIMES letting of gas will help it shift for a second but if it’s under 35 mph it jumps right back down. I also notice it does this but not as bad in the last gear.
I have a feeling it’s my gauge cluster shorting, because my air bag light, abs light, and check engine light come in randomly.
but the note about the speed dependancy makes me wonder if it’s something else.
also the OD light comes on but I could feel a difference in driving and no flashing or light but I didn’t leave it on long.
odometer and speed read fine
(update: also if I shift manually it does fine going into 2nd)
On my 94, 5.8 the obd1 connector is on the drivers side between the battery and wheel well, one large one and small one. May or may not be the same on your 5.0.
The airbag and abs lights coming on randomly "may" also be a failing clockspring wire.
I replaced the tps sensor and..:…. She runs like a dream. Thank y’all!
the awesome part is I bought this van super cheap a week ago cause it seemingly had transmission problems. They replaced everything trying to get it to run better to cap rotor wires, new fuel system including injectors! I’m so pumped
