ok check it..... go to walmart. to the automotive section. they sell a CODE READER for about 20 bucks. it comes with step by step instructions. if you cant find it, ask someone. the compute plug under the hood should be right at the firewall, on the passenger side, next to the a/c blower motor. it plugs dirrectly into the code reader from walmart. i would post a pic, but my own truck is in the shop for similar problems.

You connect the meter between the battery + and the pin on the large connector.
You just jumper between the pin on the large connector and the other one to start the test.
If you don't have an analog use the CEL method.
