Question Carb replacement 1962 Ford F100

1 1/2 years ago, i bought a 1962 Ford F100. It still has the original 223 six cylinder. I wanted a 300 six cylinder, but this 223 runs so good, i'd be an idiot to pull it and let is sit and rot. I decided to keep the 223, except I need a new carb. It has the original carb which is a Holley. It has been rebuilt atleast once. Not sure if I should just rebuild it or get a new one. Because of my limited income, it's hard to go to a auto parts store and get one. I did some shopping online and found that Amazon has them. I know it's not the best place to get them, but it's about the only place my circumstances will allow. My question is though, what's a good brand name to get? I can't afford top notch, so I have to go a little cheaper for now. They have Rochester, Autolite, but they have a bunch i havent heard of such as Def, MOSTPLU, A-Team preformance. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an I6 expert, but I do know that engine should have a Load-O-Matic distributor and must use a carb that is compatible with it. I'm guessing you have a Holley 1904 and I know there are some parts for that carb that are impossible to find. If your Holley is rebuildable that is the cheapest route to take.
Here is a link to a carb site and an explanation of the spark control valve. Carburetor Spark Control Valve (carburetor-parts.com)
And the main page. Carburetor Parts Catalog| Mike's Carburetor Parts (carburetor-parts.com)
And a replacement carb. Kind of expensive but a good read, Holley 1904 Universal Replacement Carburetor N1904 (carburetor-parts.com)

Hi and welcome. I rebuilt my 1904 Holley with a kit from Mike's Carburetor Parts a few months ago. Great kit with all the necessary parts and there's a couple of good YouTube videos available as well for step-by-step instructions. My 223 runs 10x better after the rebuild. As Crop Duster states, there's a ton of info on this forum about carb and distributor matching. My Load-o-matic now has an electronic module from Hot Spark (couldn't seem to keep the points adjusted) and the rebuilt 1904 Holley gives her reliable power with no stumble off the line (chronic in my truck prior to the carb rebuild). Good luck!

Maybe the Inline 6 Forum on FTE? Isn’t the conventional wisdom to ditch the Load-O-Something distributor?
