Need carb. for '63 223..
My 63 has begun to have carb. problems. I was going to rebuild but found two screws broken off in the carb body. I may be able to remove the broken screws but first I thought I would see if you folks know of a good replacement I could buy. It's a F-100 1963 with a 223 six.
Thanks

I also have a '63 F100 with a 223. I am planning to replace its carburetor soon. In addition, I have a '64 223 parts truck with a very similar Ford carburetor. The '63 and '64 are not identical, but they are basically the same (I think the '63 has an additional anti-stall dashpot). If you are interested in my used parts (e.g., part of the carburetor body or the whole thing to rebuild), let me know. These parts should all be in serviceable condition (nothing broken that I know of). I will need to hang onto some pieces for my own F100s, but would be glad to offer any extras that will help you. Good luck!

You should contact "Pony Carburetors", they specialize in "restoring" most Ford carbs, and will make your carb run better than it did when it left the factory, I just had my Autolite 4100 series 4v done by them, & its GREAT!!, their website is:http://www.cybervillage.com/ponycarburetor, Good Luck!!!!

Go down to your local Auto Zone and pickup and rebuilt I have a 66 with a 300 and had the same problem. I went so far as to rebuild the carb but couldnt get the truck to run worth a xxxx. I spent $100 at Auto Zone and every thing is back to normal. Another reason to do this is the old carbs have a lot of plastic in then and the rebuilds have done away with it. Hope this helps!

I went down and bought a kit and rebuilt my carb. I was able to remove the broken screws and the truck runs better than ever. What saved me was finding a shop manual at a local swap meet. Otherwise the rebuild kit would have been a nightmare. The float level and other adjustments were wrong in the kit. I also discover that this carb is not what came on the 223. The one I have is jetted for a 262. I'm happy to have things working good. Now I can start looking for the correct main jet to save a little gas.
