I walked about back where it sits for the winter (wish it was inside) and fired it up over the weekend. The red top battery from 2008/2009 did a slow crank and it fired right up! Very surprising after the really cold temps we had.

Redid my coil connections. They're probably original and had corrosion on them.

Bought another one: a '95 F150 4X4, 351, E4OD, and an 8.8 of some sort. It's pretty rusty, but it runs good, so most likely I'll part it out.

There's a hairline crack in the reservoir housing where the pump presses in. It very slowly seeps fluid. I might try some PVC cement on it.
For now, it works.
Just did that on my F250. Amazing the amount of junk that came out of there. And all of the hoses, to be honest...

Yeah, mine was in terrible shape. I also discovered that it's not seeping fluid. I filled it before the last snow on Saturday and the bottom of the reservoir is dry.

Sounds like good news to me! A simple hose rather than the reservoir...

Sent my 250 to the shop for brakes (and maybe some seals depending on the cost/benefit). I had every intention of doing it myself, and despise letting other people touch my cars/bikes... but as a stay-at-home dad, my 9 month old would make it a 6 month project, and I need my truck.

Scoff if you will.

New rear shocks today. Going on a long trip Friday planning on hauling a heavy load with the ole 94 and I thought it was time to get the rear off the ground. Pretty sure they're factory shocks and were definitely due for replacement. It made a HUGE difference and it rides so much nicer now.

Engine change

My son in law came over and “assisted “ pulling the engine(I had shoulder surgery so he did it). I helped😀

Took the 94 on a day long trip yesterday. Was good for the most part but because of the weight she got promoted to do F250 work for the trip back. Besides for the wind it was able to maintain 50 to 55 mph most the way back. Nothing broke so all went well.

Wow. Thats a powerstroke engine. Had the engine been bored out or anything that would weaken the cylinder walls?

I bought the engine without knowing much other then the PO said he had it replaced after someone used starting fluid on it. My original plan was to tear it down and rebuild it. Block seems to be scrap now. I've cleaned and bagged most of the hardware. Going to be keeping parts for cores/spares.

Used a product called "Evaporust" on this balancer. Put a gallon in a pan and all I did was set the rusty balancer in ot and let it sit for a day. Then rinsed off under water. I'm pretty impressed with the results.

That’s pretty impressive. I will note that product for future use. Sorry your spare engine is junk.

Don't forget to oil whatever comes out of your evaporust. Once you strip out the "protective" layer of rust and oxidation, things tend to start corroding very quickly.
