Any help would be appreciated. My trucks receiver is 3”, my drop hitch is 2”. So I bought a reducer but it has a crazy amount of slop. Is this safe? Should I buy a drop hitch for the 3” receiver? Thanks for any help.
I don't have a lot of experience with using these spacers, but if you are towing often, I would suggest just getting a hitch with a 3 inch shank. That's my plan anyway... my 22 F250 will have a 3 inch hitch and one of the first things I will be buying for it once I get it will be a new weight distribution hitch with a 3 inch shank... just gotta get the truck and get some measurements so I make sure I buy the correct size.

Thanks for the input, I recently bought the truck and I didn’t know they have 3” a receiver. I assumed my old hitch would work. Thanks again
There are a lot of threads about the problems using the reducers with bending hitch pins, elongating pin holes, and general slop and rattle.
the consensus every time is to just bite the bullet and get a 3” drawbar, a lot of us have gone with adjustable, I use weigh safe, in my case it works great towing 10k .

I would buy the 3 inch hitch and forget about it. Also twisting the safety chains is not such a good idea. I used to do this all the time until someone on here said not to. Here is a link as to why.
Is that a Uriah? They have been known to be sloppy in the receiver, not sure if they all run slim but maybe do a little research if you decide to buy a 3". There are several gadgets to tighten slop, not sure about how well they prevent damage people some experience. Also not sure of the root causes of the damage as I never had any experience with it.
Thanks all for the input. I went ahead and got a b&w drop hitch for the 3” receiver. The hitch shown in the pic is a Uriah. I was unaware of them having a slop issue. The b&w fits great though.
Not all F350's have the 3", my 2020 7.3 has a 2.5".
The photo I shared above is from the 2022 Towing Guide and lists which configurations come with 3" receivers and which come with 2.5" receivers. I don't know if things were different for other years. But, as far as 2022 is concerned, yes, if you get a F350 in gas with SRW, it will come with the 2.5" receiver. The only way to get the 3" receiver in a gas truck is to go with the 7.3L DRW in an F350.
In the same boat as you. Have a 2" chrome B&W from my old truck.. but the new truck has a 3" supposedly. Lets talk B&W into making a 3" shank chrome model.
While not cheap, I've been really happy with the 2" Bullet Proof Hitch on my 06. Will be ordering a 3" when the 2022 arrives. I also heard that Bulletproof is developing their own Weight Distribution/sway control hitch too! I agree, their slogan is it is the last hitch you will buy. Which partially is false because going from an 06 (2" shank) to a 2022 (3" shank), I will end up buying two BP hitches.
