Help

I have a 2004 f550, 6.0 6 speed manual transmission.

it’s our work truck, driving down the road shifting from 3rd to 4th shifter popped out.
shifter is now completely loose, will only engage in 3 & 4th.

Should I assume trans took a ****? Could it be something like linkage?

Block the wheels, have someone crawl underneath and look at the linkage while someone else runs the shifter through the gears.
Look for movement, broken parts, etc.
