Redhead steering gearbox
Almost all recirculating ball steering boxes have 2 main adjustments, the input shaft preload and the on center adjustment. Most people only adjust the on center, which will band aid a sloppy box but will make it wear out quicker. Input shaft preload should be set first then the on center adjustment. Get a factory service manual and it will explain the whole procedure.
Like has been said, Redheads are considered some of the best boxes out there, they actually remachine the cases for new/better seals and bearings if they need it and in some boxes they add extra support bearings to the shafts if there's a known weak area. Unless it's a really old box with a ton of hard miles on it and it's out of warranty, I wouldn't mess with it and even if it was out of warranty I'd contact them about doing a tune up on it rather than messing with it myself, and I'm generally a "I'll do it myself" type of person.
