its never going to apply in all cases, there were over 800k fseries trucks sold last year, most of them are trouble free or ford would be out of business.

I guess thats where the saying the wheel that squeaks the loudest gets the most grease. the only reason I have said anything neg. is I hate to see others go throught what the people that are having trouble are going through. Its been a bad time for me and what makes it worse isthey do not have a answer.
lol i understand completely, I suppose thats the price we pay for wanting cutting edge technology for a cheap price. not that these trucks are cheap but its awesome the technology in vehicles today and a shame when they cannot figure it out. they will figure it out and make those with problems run correctly I dont doubt that. but for the most part I think they got it right, dodge and chevy both have their problems as well I dont think there is a "safe bet" anywhere you roll the dice and hope yours was built right. I had a dodge powerwagon years ago, couldnt keep a tranny under it, and it drank fuel. all the makes do a pretty good job but none are perfect for certain. but waiting....you will wait forever it will never be perfect they will always come out with something you dont have...and want. its how they get you to come back and buy again. and we are all suckers for it...lol have a good one everyone.
I'm assuming the 03 is a used vehicle. If not then ignore the rest of this.
Have you considered an 01, 02, or early 03 with the 7.3L engine? A late model SD with a 7.3L under the hood might increase your odds of being a satisfied diesel owner, and probably cost less and look just as good. Just something to think about.
roger zoombah has a good idea, if your buying used that is what i would do. Afew upgrades and the 7.3 will run just as good as the 6.0 and way more reliable. in my opinon
