Hi all, this is my first forum post on this site and I have a problem. I have a 1961 F-100 and I'm currently in the process of painting it. I had bought some bottle cap hubcaps a year or so ago but I hadn't noticed then that I have two "innie" wheels, and two "outie" wheels. I really want hubcaps like those, and I was wondering if they have those style in the 9 1/2 inch (innie?) and 10 or 10 1/2 inch which is (outie?). Hopefully I explained myself alright. I can't post any pictures yet, but if you search bottlecap hubcaps for a Ford, they will come up. Thanks!
So this style? This is a Type 1 "innie" bottlecap so I assume so, painted versus stainless but is that the overall type? If so I don't know of this Type 1 in the "outie" retention method.
Yes, those kind! I had some exactly like that, but I didn't notice a couple years ago I had two different types of wheels. I didn't even know there were two different Ford steel wheels. The ones I had though fit the outie wheels. So I could get two of these and two of the outie hubcaps if I could find them.
As you have discovered, original wheels are the most common items that disappear on a vintage vehicles. Finding 2 more original innie 15" wheels should not be difficult. A note, stainless bottlecap hubcaps made their debut for the '63 model year, all '61-'62 hubcaps came painted argent silver . Again personal preference on what you use, but I prefer the duller painted caps. Stainless can be painted over with a good etching primer. '61 F100 painted hubcaps were unique, one year only, they were argent silver with red letters
Thanks for the link. The ones I had fit outie wheels and I got them from NPD, but I returned them when I realized I had two different types of wheels. I didn't realize because when I started driving it, I just slapped some 55 Thunderbird hubcaps on it my Dad gave me.

That's interesting! Thanks for the info! I guess I should stop being cheap and find two more (3 more counting the spare) innie wheels. I just really don't want to have the tires remounted, as I'm out of a job right now. At least it's been giving me some time to work on the rest of the truck.
