I have heard a lot of discussions about the "C95" injectors and fuel in the oil. My truck runs fine, but I am new to diesels so I have a couple of questions:
1) How do I check the engine date code (where is it found) and how do I know if I have the new injectors?
2) Besides the oil level rising, is there any means to detect fuel in the oil such as a discoloration? I know about UOA, but I would like to keep a close eye on it and there has to be a lot of fuel in the oil before the oil level will tell the tale.
I'm sorry to tell you it has c94 's unless they were changed . But not all c95 are leak proof my new engine is a c95 and i have been running 6% fuel in oil on oil testing . you should send a sample of your oil out it will give you a heads up if there is a problem and a little peace of mind if not. Its very hard to see small amount of oil on the &^%$# dipstick.
Yes, it the C94 injectors that have the bad rap. This is what I've been told. Something like 1 in 10 C94s may fail, while 1 in 100 C95s may fail.
C94 fuel injectors were stamped with numbers "3C3Z-9E527-AA" and later "3C3Z-9E527-ABRM". Within months, Ford recalled all of those fuel injectors in dealer inventory and by 17 April 2003 began to use a new design, part# 3C3Z-9E527-AE (i.e. C95). Ford, however may have continued to build new 6.0 engines with the old fuel injector until 03 May 03. After that date, Ford used the new fuel injectors in all new engines and service applications.
Wow, 1 in 10 and 1 in 100... Ford should be ashamed of itself. That is just plain reckless and sloppy. What is the best way to get the oil analysis done?
This is great, I'll tell you. The most expensive vehicle I have ever bought and maintaining it has turned into a hobby!

Yes, they should be. But from what I understand 1 in 100 holds true for the injectors in the 7.3L as well. That's what I was told anyway. No warm fuzzes here.
Blackstone labs for oil analysis, they have a link in the sponsor's section on this site or do a google search, they have a web site.
