Having trouble with the a/c clutch not cycling properly on my '94 F-150 302 , 134 type system. The ac works for a short time, and when clutch cycles off, won't come back on. Checked refrigerant level, seems o.k., also the air gap on the clutch is o.k. Is the clutch cycling switch the problem, and if so , where is it located, Thanks.
It's on the cylinder thats on the pasenger side firewall. It sticks out and points to the jack? It has several different wires coming out.
My advise...Spend a little extra money and get a GOOD one. I am on my 4th one. I finally got a four seasons switch(available at autozone. A Ford switch would cost a little bit. But I can bet it would last longer.

When the compressor is malfunctioning remove the electrical connector from the pressure cycling switch an install a jumper wire. If that is the problem the compressor will come back on. If the compressor still does not operate be VERY CAREFULL and gently push in on the clutch plate. If the running compressor picks it up and holds it in then you have a week magnetic coil that needs to be replaced.
