Dumb question but how would I go about wiring this into an upfitter switch? do I need the relay? Do I just cut off the 3-way switch and splice that into the upfitter wiring?
For all three sets of lights I have going to the upfitters, I grounded direct to battery and tied hot into one of the upfitter leads, no additional relays or anything else.

Yep. Just make sure the switch you are using is fused/relayed for the amperage your light requires. Switch 5 and 6 are rated higher in my 2017 and I had to tie into one of them for mine. Your owner's manual will tell you which switches are rated for what.
