I am looking at an engine for sale online near me. The seller states it is a 302 big block from a 1972 pick up. I am not an expert by any means, but as far as I know the only 302 that was a big block was the Boss, which was not a pickup powerplant until 2010. Any thoughts or info from those of you who who know more than me?

That appears to be your basic crusty 302. Definitely not a big block. I would look that over real good before I put any money into it. Actually the Boss 302 was only around in 1969 and 70 and it wasn't a big block. It was replaced in 1971 by the Boss 351 also not big block, but they sure ran like one. After that performance engines disappeared and we were in the dark and dreary 1970's.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought. I am not even going to look at it.
