Bilstein 5100 shocks

I put Bilstein 5100’s on my 2016 SD when it had 35k miles and it was the best thing I ever did to that truck, it rode better than the day I drove it off the lot. I’ve only got 3k miles on my 2021 and I want to put the Bilsteins on it but I can’t find any 5100’s for a stock height truck. The closest I can find is for a 2” lift. Is it too much of a stretch to run the shocks for a 2” lift on a stock height truck?

There are a lot of posts here about using the 0-2" and 2-2.5" labeled Bilstein 5100s on a stock truck, and someone took pics and measurements of OEM Ford shocks next to the 5100s, to show they line up just fine.

I have a set of 5100 shocks and steering stabilizer sitting in the garage, waiting for delivery of a new F350, which will remain at stock height. OEM shocks and stabilizer are coming off immediately and going on Craigslist while they're new.

I put the 5100's on my 2020 F250 well documented. Bilstien's advertised specs are not current. We have done the measurements and confirmed by multiple forum members including part #'s.

If you're staying at stock height, you can get the 4600's instead. The only differences between the two are one is yellow and the other has a zinc coating, which eventually looks like crap anyway. The other is that the 5100's are made for lifted trucks. I've had 5100's on two F150's and they truly do make a noticeable difference, especially on rough country roads and when going around corners and hitting bumps, or expansion joints. The back end stays planted unlike with the factory shocks where the back end hops out. I'll eventually be looking at 4600's shortly after getting my 2022.

I would call Bilstein, I called them about shocks for my lowered Vette. I put 5100s on my ‘04 2500 Chevy and B8s on my lowered ’17 Vette.

Try these for the rear.

I really wish it wasn’t so confusing. I have a stock height 2018 F-350 that needs shocks. I want to go with the 5100’s because I may level it soon and don’t want to have to buy shocks twice. I wish that Bilstein would say they fit stock trucks.

I just received my ‘22 and while the ride is nice, I’m willing to throw some Bilstein’s on if it’s a significant upgrade. My F250 is stock height but has the snow plow prep which has a little higher spring/height in the front. Should I go 5100’s or 4600’s?

Either will work. I would go 5100's.

Is it a huge difference over the FX4 stock shocks? I don’t mind to drop the coin for the 5100’s, as long as it’s worth it. Will the 5100’s work on my rig since it’s not lifted 2”-2.5”?

Yes, they work fine on non lifted trucks.
Bilstien 5100:
24-274951 Front
24-274968 Rear
My factory rear shocks started leaking at 3k miles. Factory shocks react rather harsh, the 5100's are smoother and react better progressively.

Why 5100 over 4600? I never had 5100's but my 4600 are great.
