I pulled the tank on my 6.4 and it had a suction tube screen that looked something like the below…..does the 6.7 have such a screen?
No, it is different. Take note of the little cardboard disc that the OP found. I will cover the end of the pickup tube perfectly, blocking the fuel flow.
Then when one shuts the engine off, may float away and wait until the next opportunity to do its thing again. But right now I don’t remember if there is a screen on the end of the pickup tube or not. It makes sense that there would be something there.

no screen at all and the PERFECT size to be blocked by this cap insert. Could be avoided entirely if they would place a screen over the sump. ........or....if I paid closer attention and didn't put the little ******* in the tank to begin with!

Yup, but it has been 6 years since we had the tank off my ‘15 and couldn’t remember if there was a screen or not.
I was not so lucky……..there was no cardboard disc in my tank. Just a ******* fuel system!

Newby to this forum (2016 F250 XLT) ....I just worked through this "cardboard disk" issue. But thanks to this forum & other info found on Web I went quickly to dropping fuel tank after replacing Low pressure fuel pump and filters (just one round...). Sure enough...found three of those dang disks in the tank, two of which had made it into that orange pick-up tube cup in the tank...Problem instantly fixed!
My previous truck had this type of inlet screen…how does the fuel additive cap seal disc make it thru the screen?
Scroll up a bit in this thread, there's great pic of the problem...the 2016 (and others I assume) have an orange cup where the suction & return lines are terminated, it's open at the top with no screen. Matter of fact (as someone else posted) the little bell shaped plastic piece at the end of the suction tube (inside this cup) is exactly the same diameter as those cardboard disks...perfect design for this problem to occur...Thanks Ford! I'm an engineer (Navy 30+years). I've heard ~5-7% of the CP4 high pressure pumps fail at ~100K miles. This clogged or partially clogged fuel feed tube problem will cause the low pressure pump to work really hard, not produce the 70psi required to properly feed & lubricate the high pressure pump and potentially also suck air into the system (also very bad for the high pressure pump). Ford will of course never tell us, but I wonder how many early failure CP4 pumps are ultimately caused by partially clogged fuel suction lines in the tank?
