Good day all,
So I have a 1963 f100 and I am rebuilding the front end and adding disc power brakes. While I do this work, I figured I should check steering. It appears that in the area where the three on the tree shift linkage arms come out of the steering column, grease is leaking out. The truck was changed to floor shift so I don't need the on the tree shift arms but wasn't sure if there was a way to stop the leak without replacing the whole shaft setup? Any ideas?
I don't think there's supposed to be a real seal. It sounds like someone pumped a lot of grease in there to quiet things or make it smooth operating, when one of the bearings or supports wore out.
