Hello All! I hope this finds you all healthy. After 10 years of driving my old ambulance, I'm just so tired of fuel leaks. Recently I tracked down some hardline leaks between the engine and cradle, and further up the frame where the line rubbed against a bolt head... (One I bronze braised, the other I spliced with a brass compression fitting).
But these crazy return caps/hoses are driving me nuts!!! I've switched to using Viton o-rings, but they don't seem to last any longer than the rubber ones. And the hose gets brittle within just 4-6 months! I literally have to replace these stupid things every 6 months or so...
So, where do I find a better product? What have you found to be the BEST? I don't mind paying more, if I can just go a year between leaks! It SHOULDN'T be that difficult...
Thank you very much for the replies! I'll check into those options. That rail system looks interesting. Worth the money, if I can't get a decent kit to seal up.
I remember several years ago someone said they were making some, but no, I've never seen them. I thought it was a neat idea, but since you can re-use the plastic caps, I figured the brass ones wouldn't be any advantage in regards to leaks. But at least they wouldn't get brittle and break off over time! Maybe even use without clamps?

You can reuse the caps. Due to a difference in I think it was the right rear cap after I installed a ATS kit in '93 I reused that same cap for over 20 years without a problem.
I have a sack full of used Caps to have on hand for that...just in case moment.
When I see good one`s at PNP autoparts I grab them. Mine have been behaving them selves for a while now.....I just don`t look at them
when checking the oil. Charlie
Oh yeah, mine always lets me know when I've developed a drainback air or fuel leak problem---excessive cranking after a period of no use for days. On the other hand, it's surprising how fast these things will start if the fuel and starting system is perfect. My IDI hasn't been my daily driver for a few years now and I haven't started it for 2 months. Needed it to use it to move my gooseneck horse trailer the other day and believe it or not it fired up after only cranking an actual 2 seconds.
