injector return line kit recommendations

I had a couple of injector caps leaking so I installed a new kit I bought from Diesel Care Performance. That was covered in a different thread. Botton line is now they leak worse than they did before. If I am going to go through the whole process again I want to use a kit that other people have had good luck with. Any suggestions? The one I bought was from Diesel Care and Performance (DCP)

My engine is still using the original caps, I've changed the o-rings and hose once since I bought the truck. If you're careful removing the caps, and they aren't cracked or warped, they can be reused. I know I'll catch some flack for saying that, but its worked for me!

Use only Viton o-rings, #111, available from a number of sources, but McMaster Carr is cheap and fast to ship for a packet of 50. The fuel hose can be had at any parts house, I'd recommend a quality brand like Gates over cheap crap, so look at the label before you by (Napa has good stuff). The springy metal clamps can be reused if they aren't rusted and brittle.

I've also heard good things about type4's kits

I got a kit from type4. Only problem I had was a leak with an older clamp I used with my return line to my filter head. Vaseline is great for installing the o-rings. Cheap and effective!

Here is an alternative.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...thing-new.html

I have been meaning to update this thread. Approaching 500 miles now and so far no problems. These are caps from one of Russes kits, with vitton rings from Mcmaster carr. The rest I made up myself, and I have had no leaks at all so far.

You could probably do it cheaper yourself, but I like to support Russ. He goes out of his way to provide the IDI community with things like these...even if the cost is a bit more, I'll buy from him.

Kind of like buying from Walmart vs. a mom and pop shop.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't buy a kit from Russ, I'm just saying its not always necessary. I'm probably going to pick one up from him as I know the originals won't last forever. I guess my point was that ideally, the plastic caps last longer than the o-rings and hose does. And if you're thrifty, or in a bind, they can be reused without getting the whole shebang.

When I do decide my truck needs a new kit, I'll order it from Russ for certain.

Hell even I get my return line kits from Russ... Simply put... It isnt worth the BS to build a kit from scratch... get real... Just get a Diapco kit from Russ and be done with it...

I used a kit from Russ and thought I was done with it. I ended up with leaks at 3 or 4 hose to barb locations. That is why I searched for an alternative. So far. the new hoses and clamps are doing great. Not a drop of fuel on the valley pan or intake manifold. I am not bagging on Russes kits. I just don't like the braided cloth hose and spring clamps. The hose I used is about 3 bucks a foot. the clamps are about 10 bucks, and a bag of vitton o-rings are about 7 bucks. I used the caps from Russes kit, and so far so good. I will keep reporting the results.

I was getting pressed for time so I pulled the new return lines and caps off and put the original caps and lines back on leaving the new o-rings that came the the kit on. I noticed the caps fit much tighter and were hard to press down especially on the #1 and 2 injector where I could only get one hand on them. I got a much more satisfying click. Fired it up and success no leaks. I think someone should put up a "read this first" sticky on the perils of using cheap return kits.

I also supply viton orings and olives with each kit.
And The cloth braided hoose from germany is the good stuff, other kits hose isnt and it will fail in short order.
The best hose is the parker barrier hose which I can supply but would like to see more interest in it before investing in a roll which to get a decent price is hundreds of feet.
Also the small size fits the early cap awesome and the next size fits the lates a bit loose but doesnt cause any problems with the PROPER clamps
And I do sell just vitons if wanted.

I had issues twice with the diapco kits, once on the old setup, and once on this setup with the lines leaking on the nipples... Then I found out if you give them a twist, and use a pair of pliers to spread the ears on the clamps a little tighter, the leaks stop... Done it multiple times, and its worked everytime... Other than that, the kits are great.

Hey Russ, don't think for a minute that I am complaining about your kit. In all of my posts, this is the first time that I have even associated your name with one. I have had issue with the hose to barb connections with every kit I have used, which is why I decided to try a different path. That is all. As you know I have had success with other items from you and shared the results with the forum. I appreciate that you make increasingly hard to find items available to the rest of us. In fact when the time comes, I will hit you up about info on the 60 to 1 wheel for my 093.

Thanks,

Mac.

No worries, I do like feedback on all parts supplied. And Dipaco really stands behind these so far, had one with distorted caps and they replaced the kits with no questions asked. They had a bad run get thru and as anyone in manufacturing knows, that happens. I told them if they ever went away from the german cloth outer hose they would lose all sales,
I wish they made the barrier hose in the exact dimensions for the late apps.
