Hi folks
I recently picked up a ‘73 F250 camper special and I could use some help identifying a part. Can anyone tell me what these two corroded rods are to the left of the blue valve cover? —see image. What was their purpose? One is wrapped in what looks like asbestos.
The truck runs great when warm, but is difficult to start and doesn’t idle on its own while warming —I have to give it gas during warmup or else it dies.
Thanks for the identifications and the sticky post—super helpful. I didnt realize the electric choke relied on a hot air supply too for proper functioning. Much appreciated!

If you look at the sticky there is a fully electric choke definition and how it needs to be wired. That's the direction I believe your headed.

I went with the "Mikes Carburetor kit" and have been really happy with it. Works like a charm, though I am sure there are others out there just as efficient. Pretty simple application.
